Ranger Science is a fun way for our Rangers to learn with their parents, grandparents or other WoodCreek volunteers about the wonderful world of science.  The program is offered for grades Kindergarten through 5th and is predetermined by grade level lesson plans to help reinforce and enhance the classroom curriculum.

Ranger Science is scheduled several times throughout the year with one full day designated for each grade level.  Our Ranger Science center is usually the LGI room and there are typically 4 to 5 stations.  There are typically 4 to 5 timed sessions throughout the day with 2 to 3 classes participating together during each session.  There is a short presentation on the topic being covered and then the classes are split up into smaller groups.  Each group then rotates through the different science stations experiencing hands on activities and experiments.

Ranger Science is a great way to get the kids excited about science by doing some practical real world experiments that they can see, touch and feel.  No science background is required so anyone can volunteer.  There is also plenty to do in preparation for Ranger Science that can be done from home.  Volunteers can come for the entire day or just for their child’s classroom session.  We are always looking for volunteers or grade level science coordinators, so please let us know if you are interested in more information.

If you are interested in volunteering your time with Ranger Science - either from home or at the school - please email us at volunteers@myrangerpta.org
