Volunteers are Very Important People!
Did you know that students whose parents are involved in their schools generally earn higher grades, score better on tests, adapt more easily to school, and graduate at a higher rate? What better reasons can there be to volunteer today?
Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) are an integral part of the PTA and your student's success at WoodCreek. We understand your time is precious and valuable - that's why we're happy with whatever amount of time you can contribute. Whether you have a lot of time, or just a little, can work only from home, or can be at the school for events, we appreciate your contributing to our programs and projects.

Descriptions of Volunteer Opportunities
Book Fair - Library Help with set up, book selections for little ones, and sales for this week long event.
Box Tops Program Collecting, organizing, and advertising this fundraiser.
Call Me Anytime This can be work at school or home. Home projects include cutting, coloring, etc.
Camp WoodCreek Our annual night of family fun and auction. Occurs in the Spring of the school year.
Class Parties Help these fun filled days run smoothly by helping with set up and clean up.
Classroom Workbaskets Each teacher has a basket of items to be completed weekly. Projects include cutting,
stapling, laminating, etc.
Forest Families Help new families at our school get acclimated to the “WCE” way of doing things.
Grade Level Special Events Performances and class projects.
Hospitality Assist the hospitality committee with luncheons and other events throughout the year.
Junior Achievement Parents teach students basic concepts of business and economics related to everyday
life. Thirty minutes, once a week for five weeks. All materials are provided.
Library Help shelve books, check books in and out, and other needs from the librarian.
Lunchroom Help the little ones open milk cartons, food items, and assist where needed.
Marquee Change out the marquee sign in front of school with important information.
Music and Art Aide Assist Art and Music Teachers in changes that need to be made to their classrooms or
hallway displays.
Parent Reader Enjoy reading to your child’s class. This is available for Kinder and 1st grade only.
PATHS Parents and Teachers Helping Students – hands on 1 day event, once a year per each grade level. It is loads of fun for the kids. Each grade will have a different theme.
PE Help our wonderful P.E. teachers during class time and/or during larger events such
as field day.
Ranger Science Hands on science program run by WCE parents. Assistance needed with preparation
and/or the day of the event. No science experience necessary.
School Nurse Help our nurse weigh and measure our little Rangers just two days out of the year.
School Store This opportunity allows you to help our Ranger children shop in our monthly store.
Sister School Provide our sister campus, Stephens Elementary, with access to quality volunteer support.
Spirit Wear Help sell spirit wear at school events when needed.
Watch D.O.G.S. Dads of Great Students - Provides dads with flexible volunteer scheduling within our school.
Watch the Class This parent sits with the class for a short period of time while the teacher attends training in the building.
Wilderness Newsletter WCE’s monthly newsletter.
Workroom Print, copy, staple, laminate, sort, hole punch...the workroom volunteers do that and more. Sign up and work in the teacher workroom once a month.
Yearbook On this committee, you can photograph events or help design and decide yearbook themes and pages!
Power Ranger Days
Power Ranger Days are educational days for our teachers. The teachers are on the WCE campus learning just like our kids. Our parents help provide extra support during those times to help our young rangers stay safe. Each Power Ranger Day is divided by grades. Grades 3-5 teachers will be utilizing the 8:45 – 11:00 time and the Kg-2 teachers will have the 12:15-2:40 time. If you are interested in either time slot, please e-mail Cathy Roberts.
Lunch Room
We need your help out the lunch room. Assisting the lunch monitor in the cafeteria is a great opportunity to socialize with the kids and get to know them. If you are interested in volunteering during your child's lunch time or any other lunch period please contact volunteers@myrangerpta.org.
VIPS Workday is held once a month on a Wednesday.. Hours will be 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the LGI at WoodCreek - come for all or just part of that time. Snacks will be provided. Door prizes too! Remember to bring your scissors!
